The Maslow’s recently updated ‘Date Night’ package is the perfect way to show that special someone that love is all around. Whether you are feeling spontaneous or have something – like a birthday or anniversary – to celebrate, The Maslow is your one-stop shop for making memories.
The Maslow boasts the ideal city escape, right in the middle of bustling Sandton. In fact, as soon as you enter through its revolving doors, the hooting of cars and sounds of traffic cease to exist. Making our way up to the fourth floor, we looked out onto the hotel’s tree-rich gardens, complete with a swimming pool and a vibey bar area on the deck.
Our room for the night was a Luxury Queen Room. Inside, we were surprised with a beautiful turndown and warm, welcoming lighting. On the far end, a bottle of sparkling wine was waiting over ice and we opened it with the freeing feeling of celebration. While sipping on our bubbles, we explored the rest of the room, impressed by the cupboard space, large bath and rain shower and the fluffy bed with equally fluffy pillows.
We made our way back down, past the hotel’s gym and Africology Spa, for a quick dip in the pool before dinner. Whilst lounging poolside, we ordered some iced coffees, catching some of the last bit of late summer sun. Thereafter, we walked through the bar area, buzzing with a bachelorette party, business meetings, tourist groups and families, to go freshen up for dinner. After another glass of bubbly (just because we could), we made our way to Lacuna Bistro.
At Lacuna Bistro, we were guided to a table for two – the perfect setting for views across the pond. Soon enough, warm bread with butter was brought to the table as we curiously skimmed the menu. Eventually, we decided on the calamari starter and the fillet and T-bone for mains. You would be happy to know that the ‘Date Night at The Maslow’ package includes a R400 dinner allocation per person, so you can put that towards your memorable evening. For dessert, we simply opted for coffee whilst reminiscing about our exceptional, memorable experience at The Maslow.
After having the best nine-hour rest we’ve had in a while, we made our way downstairs for the all-inclusive breakfast. While an incredible buffet offering lay in front of us, there were continental options in the form of fruit and pastries too. And, of course, fruit juice, tea and coffee. We filled our plates with scrambled eggs, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, beef and pork sausages and ciabatta toast and indulged for one last time before checking out.
