HJ it’s a golden milestone this year; its the 50th anniversary for the Stellenbosch Wine Routes. The wine routes launched officially in 1971 and once the Wine Routes were established, Stellenbosch became the first wine region in South Africa to offer tourists the chance to experience the products of the Winelands with unique cellar-door experiences. The famed wine routes boast over 200 wine estates and have played a significant role in developing South Africa’s wine tourism industry, no small feat as the sector contributes a massive R7.2bn to the country’s GDP per year.

There isn’t much not to love about Stellenbosch and the 120 wine producers. The five sub-routes include: Bottelary Hills, Greater Simonsberg, Helderberg, Stellenbosch Valley and Stellenbosch Berg. Lanzerac, nestled in the Jonkershoek Valley between the Stellenbosch mountains, is one of the oldest heritage farms , dating back to 1692!

We visited Lanzerac a few years back and loved every single minute, not only is the wine delectable but the accommodation is exceptional too. it is definitely worth a visit!
