Here’s to Joburg’s newest speciality cafe: Toasted
You’re not dreaming. This is not a drill, we repeat this is not a drill. Let’s cut to the cheese, there really is a brand new toasted cheese restaurant in Jozi and it’s called Toasted. Not only is it new but it is female owned and run and they serve the yummy women-led, small batch coffee roaster from Durban called Humble Coffee . Let me take you through a journey of toasted cheese heaven.
Choose wisely because this is of vital importance. Okay so if you love cheese then go for the traditional Cheesy Goodness on sourdough, it’s jam packed with three cheeses, melt in your mouth fantastic. Go with the pickled fish on rye or chicken cranberry and apple toasties, if you’re a tad adventurous. Oh and did we mention they also serve delish soup? The roasted pepper soup is a bowl of goodness and will warm up any winters day! And hey while you’re at it order their cheesy truffle wedges on the side. Mouthgasmic.
Power to the vegans
The menu is packed with plenty vegan options to choose from. Dishes like the delectable P,B & J to a nutty mushroom toastie, they cater for all allergies and dietary concerns as well.
Now it’s kinda hard to describe exactly where they the cafe is as they are a little undercover. You’ll spot the yellow toasted sign above the entrance on Jan Smuts Avenue, but they’re inside the building, snug in the back where the courtyard is. This lovely little space is so charming and pretty and the ideal coffice because they actually have fast stable WIFI. This is one fresh space we’re certain locals will fall in love with.
