This women’s month, we’re celebrate empowering local female entrepreneurs
Poetry recently launched The Collective, a platform for local fashion designers. We’re crushing on this initiative and will be showcasing four businesswomen involved and their inspiring stories.
These women will be afforded the opportunity to expand their businesses with their product offering being sold within the Poetry online platform.

Lesley sculpts custom pet ceramics from her vineyard home in Riebeek West. This unique collection features cats and dogs carved out mugs and cookie jars. How adorable? The items are hand-painted by Lesley, her husband and a collective of eight gogos in the township community of Gugulethu, who are part of an initiative to build vegetable gardens in vulnerable communities.

The unique baskets from Tatenda Woven Baskets are carefully handwoven by a humble wife and husband duo, Precious and Richard Mahuni. They are master basket weavers from Zimbabwe, who sell their beautiful baskets in the suburbs of Cape Town. They believe the secret behind their woven baskets is just sharing the African culture with people who appreciate art.
