Visit Stellenbosch for all things spring

Boschendal Garden Town Stellenbosch

Spring has arrived and there is no better location to celebrate than in the Cape winelands!

Stellenbosch is flawless when it comes to food and flowers. And of course its wine and art. Hence why it’s worth visiting the City of Oaks in October.

Garden Town Stellenbosch

Garden Town Stellenbosch takes place from 20 to 30 October and we can’t wait!

In essence, it is one of the country’s most prominent garden lifestyle festivals, promising a fresh milestone for Stellenbosch.

During this time, the popular winelands town and its surrounds will pull out all the stops for gardeners and nature lovers alike. Consequently, the ten-day-long festival will see residents transforming the streets and the surrounding countryside. The festival was inspired by the world-famous flower festival of Girona in Spain. Therefore it will encompass many things, including (but not limited to):

  • Horticultural tours
  • Flower art
  • Dining
  • Hiking
  • Guest garden specialists
  • DIY vegetable gardening
  • Wine tastings
  • Painting
  • Guided bird walks
  • Wreath crafting
  • Bonsai crafting
  • Moss educationals
  • Drawing with thread
  • Honey sampling

What more to expect at Garden Town Stellenbosch

Furthermore – while you’re there – we recommend a visit to the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden, the Rupert Museum and Quoin Rock. Also pop in at Ernst van Jaarsveld, Lanzerac and Babylonstoren wine farms.

While you’re at it, be sure to explore the magical Stellenbosch CBD, which will also be decorated with a flower theme and prominent installations. In fact, we’ve heard a little birdy say that there will be colourful floral displays in Bird Street.

Visitors can also visit private home gardens on 21, 22, 28 and 29 October.

What will festival entries cost?

An entrance fee of only R20 per garden will be charged. Alternatively, a weekend passport can be purchased, which will give you access to all the gardens for a once-off fee of R200.
