A new look for the Zambezi Queen
Following six weeks of refurbishment, the Mantis Group’s Zambezi Queen Collection’s flagship vessel, the Zambezi Queen, has a new look. The luxury houseboat has undergone a range of changes. This includes paintwork, carpeting, furnishings, finishes and fabrics – all updated to beautiful, and modern standards. In fact, according to Kate Powell, General Manager, Sales and Marketing for the Zambezi Queen Collection, the new-look vessel feels comfortable, welcoming and luxurious, all at the same time.
“Of course, we wanted to achieve something in keeping with the Chobe’s extraordinary surroundings – and our guests’ expectations,” she says. They worked closely with Mi Designs and are very proud of the results.
The upper deck (featuring the bar, lounge and dining area) comes with a natural, earthy design and palette. Cream, grey, green and taupe work with a range of textures to give the common space a fresh, contemporary and organic feel. In addition to natural wood, they have gone with leather, linen and wicker for the ultimate luxurious, yet earthy result.
Furthermore, there is also a newly revamped library section, where guests can relax with a book while simultaneously spotting game on the Chobe’s river banks.
Even the outdoor furniture has been updated with L-shaped couches and poolside loungers now inviting guests to linger on the deck a little longer. After all, who wouldn’t want to soak up the views from the bow of the boat, while indulging in a cocktail from the new cocktail lounge area at the stern?
You can also spot South African artworks on the Zambezi Queen, including that of celebrated artist, Denby Meyer. Also keep an eye out for fabrics specially selected from the Ardmore African-inspired Luxury Fabric Collection.
The Chobe River is, of course, the star of the show with its immaculate African vistas. Admire the river and its beautiful surrounds from every vantage point on the Zambezi Queen. Large windows open onto the river and the national park beyond. Additionally, the vessel’s generous space, natural light and its flow from indoor spaces to the outdoors make for an easy and unforgettable on-the-river stay.
