Driving into the Future: Hybrids and Fully Electrics are the Way to Go
In the fast-evolving world of the motoring industry, two buzzwords have taken center stage – ‘hybrid’ and ‘electric.’ These innovative technologies are driving a wave of change, making eco-friendly vehicles more accessible and enticing to South Africans. Today, we delve into two remarkable contenders that have captured hearts and minds – the HAVAL Jolion HEV and the all-new, fully electric Jeep Avenger.
HAVAL Jolion HEV
HAVAL has recently expanded its HEV product offering with the launch of the self-charging hybrid electric HAVAL Jolion HEV. Apart from it being a rather affordable SUV fit for families, it’s also an attractive drive. In addition, it offers lots of benefits when it comes to performance and fuel efficiency.
Different to the rest of the range, the HAVAL Jolion HEV comes with LED Premium Vision headlights and fog lights featuring blue accents. It also has a standout diamond front grille, a redesigned front bumper, silver roof rails, flared rear brake lights, a sporty rear diffuser and dual vent rear spoilers. The trendy SUV certainly delivers when it comes to visual appearance and style.
The HAVAL Jolion HEV features a 1.5-litre hybrid drivetrain which combines a petrol engine with an electric motor. Its power balancing allows it to operate solely on electric power, or through a combination of the electric motor and the internal combustion engine. It can transfer between configurations (EV, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid and Regeneration) seamlessly, depending on the driving conditions and driver input. You can also tailor the power delivery experience via a variety of driving modes.
The vehicle is available in Luxury and Super Luxury variants.

Jeep Avenger
Recently named ‘Best Small Car’ at the Autocar Awards 2023, the all-new, fully electric Jeep Avenger raises the bar when it comes to compact form and sophistication. Designed and built in Europe, this quirky, compact SUV is Jeep’s very first battery-electric vehicle (BEV).
It has taken the team who made the Avenger a lot of time, commitment and passion to come up with a car that brings something truly different to the small SUV class. It might be the small, but the Avenger still speaks true to the original Jeep design and its rugged character.
The vehicle is an all-electric compact SUV that has been well-positioned in the rapidly growing B-SUV segment. Its ideal match is an active driver looking for an SUV with compact dimensions (this one is a mere four metres in length). It is compact, yet it still offers a lot of space and storage possibilities. They’ve packed the Jeep DNA into the Avenger well, with a combination of capability, style, functionality and technology.
It has a range of up to 250 miles in the WLTP cycle and its new electric powertrain combines a unique 400-volt electric motor with 115 kilowatts, 260 Nm of maximum torque and a new 54 kWh battery.
