Desmond Mabuza Shares His Excitement About the Signature Fine Wine Collection
Desmond Mabuza, the Group CEO of the Signature Restaurant Group, recently shared his excitement with a few select guests, saying that the launch of the Signature Restaurant Group’s exclusive fine wine collection reflects their journey towards excellence. “[It is] capturing our passion and projecting our future,” he added. Hailing from the Swartland region – known for its Syrah and Chenin Blanc – the wines also reflect what makes the Signature brand so unique. Much like a signature.
Desmond Mabuza Elaborates On Signature's Wine Collection
The wine range embodies the brand’s ‘Celebrate Life’ mantra and effortlessly weaves fine dining and elegant wine making together. In it, two blends have been designed to complement the dishes served at Signature’s tables. Evidently, Desmond Mabuza excitedly shares that the launch of these wines is much more than just the introduction of new products. “It deepens our dining experience with wines that epitomise our passion for excellence. These wines commemorate our journey and herald our future, thoughtfully crafted to enhance the memorable moments our guests enjoy with us.”
The Signature 2020 vintage is an exclusive collection of fine wines, available during meals (and they can also be bought by case) at Signature locations in Sandton and uMhlanga.
More About The Signature Fine Wine Collection
Signature collaborated with a boutique wine producer in the Swartland region, creating a collection that speaks to the restaurant brand’s values. The blends – the Signature White Blend 2020 and the Signature Reserve Red Blend 2020 – have been expertly crafted, adding a touch of elegance and complexity to each meal.
Predominantly a Chenin blend, the Signature White Blend 2020 incorporates grapes from Heritage Old Vines, known for their low-yield, high-quality, fruit-forward juice. The blend’s longevity points to the Marsanne, while the Viognier brings about a floral elegance. Additionally, the Harslevelü adds a layer of charm and sweetness to the wine. Ultimately, it’s a versatile white, perfect to pair with Asian dishes, as well as delicate poultry dishes.
The Syrah-based Signature Reserve Red Blend 2020 comes with ripe cherry notes from the Grenache in the blend, as well as Mourvedre for depth in both colour and flavour, and Carignan for the structural tannins. While quite profound on the palate, the wine is surprisingly accessible and matches well with curried lamb shank and chimichurri ribeye.
