Tadaa! Cape Town’s Cool New Ice Cream Spot
Spring has arrived and with it comes Cape Town’s newest ice cream sensation, Tadaa!
Located in Gardens, Tadaa! is ready to serve up joy to locals and travellers alike. Their artisanal ice cream is crafted on-site using only the best ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible. Up to 24 different flavours are available at any time and each scoop is an absolute treat. And, since the menu changes regularly, there’s always something new to try.
Something For Everyone
In addition to familiar favourites, the display is packed with exciting options. Alongside classics like vanilla, hazelnut, pistachio and chocolate, you’ll discover unique creations. For example, think blueberry sorbet swirled with mascarpone ice cream and pieces of meringue. Or, perhaps try the Vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk or the marzipan pear with chunks of real marzipan.
Vegans are not left out either. The fruit sorbets are intense and refreshing, featuring flavours like raspberry, granadilla and grapefruit with cinnamon. On top of that, they also offer rich chocolate options made with Belgian chocolate, which are just as creamy as the dairy-based versions.
Tadaa! is perfect for everyone, whether it’s parents on school runs or those enjoying an evening out. Not only do they open at 13:00, but they also stay open late, seven days a week. You can enjoy your ice cream in a cup or cone or alternatively, take home a 600ml tub to enjoy later.
A Love Letter to Cape Town
Lena Sönnichsen, Tadaa!’s founder, personally creates each flavour. She refers to every scoop as “a love letter to Cape Town.” Lena draws her inspiration from the city’s sunny days, vibrant people and aromatic kitchens. “I don’t know what I love more, ice cream or Cape Town,” she laughs. “Bringing both together is a dream come true. I have loved ice cream my entire life and hope to create a place that celebrates the good things: Childhood memories; shared connections; the delight of a small indulgence. Ice cream really is for everyone. A small moment that brings so much joy.”
While the ice cream is the star, Tadaa!’s store further enhances the experience. Designed by local talent Donna Wills of 8a Creative, the interior is all about connection and fun. The space features bold typography and coral-pink accents. And, with plenty of seating inside and out, it invites you to stay and savour your treat. Behind a glass door, you’ll notice shadows moving, hinting at the ice cream magic happening in the back.
