Bean Bag Jazz Lounge Returns to Durban’s Florida Road
Florida Road is jazzed up again with the return of its legendary Bean Bag Jazz Lounge. Yes, they’re back, reclaiming its title as Durban’s go-to destination for live music, good food and good vibes.
The Legacy of the Bean Bag Jazz Lounge
Part of what makes Durban’s heart beat, Bean Bag Jazz Lounge takes up centre stage when it comes to the city’s nightlife. It is a place to make memories, start new friendships and dance the night away to lively music.
After reopening in November 2024, the jazz lounge aims to do what it did before and more. In fact, Director, Akhona Ndlovu confirmed that they were excited to bring the Bean Bag experience back to Durban. “With our focus on live music, great food and good vibes, we aim to create a space where people can come together this festive season and enjoy what the city has to offer,” Ndlovu said.

Every night promises something new. Here, Thursdays through to Sundays will become the highlight of your week every week.
Thursdays are Bohemia Nights. On these nights, Bean Bag Jazz Lounge transforms into a boho-dream. Fridays are Live Jazz Nights, featuring jazz legends and up-and-coming artists. Saturday evenings are Better with Jazz Nights, kicking off at 19:00 and continuing well into the early hours of the morning. It’s the perfect spot to immerse yourself in soulful sounds from international and local jazz musicians.
Finally, Sundays’ Soul Sessions start at 13:00, with Bean Bag serving a delightful Sunday Buffet. With a live band and DJs, the buffet and a lamb spit braai, they set the scene for the perfect afternoon.
