The Capital Pearls Adds More Gems to Umhlanga’s Skyline

The Capital Hotels, Apartments and Resorts recently announced the completion of their bold new wing that saw 66 luxury rooms added to the prestigious Pearls of Umhlanga development. Furthermore, bookings opened for stays from 12 May 2025, just in time for a mid-year escape to one of South Africa’s most iconic beachfront destinations.
Smart Design Meets Coastal Luxury
The Capital Pearls now boasts two styles to choose from under one well-loved coastal icon. Furthermore, the new rooms are contemporary spaces that complement the property’s beloved existing rooms, offering guests even more ways to stay.
Marc Wachsberger, CEO of The Capital Hotels, Apartments and Resorts, said: “We’re chuffed to be able to add more jewels to the crown of Umhlanga. Over the past 12 years, The Pearls has consistently been one of the most successful properties in our portfolio. With occupancy averaging around 90%, we knew there was strong demand for more high-end, flexible accommodation in this location.”
A New Era of Hospitality
The 66 brand-new units are tailored for modern travellers, whether they’re visiting for business, leisure or a bit of both. Additionally, each space is designed with The Capital’s signature blend of contemporary comfort, elegant finishes and attention to detail. They include:
– Executive Studios (City-view): These are stylish 29m² units for two guests, featuring a sleek kitchen, luxurious walk-in shower and a balcony overlooking the city. The average room rate per night is R2000.
– Deluxe Studios (Sea-facing): These are 36m² sea-facing havens with the same modern comforts and a balcony that opens onto sweeping ocean views. The average room rate per night for two is R3000.
– 2-Bedroom Deluxe Apartments: Lastly, at 67m², these apartments comfortably sleep four, offering a full kitchen, generous lounge, two bathrooms (shower and bath), and a spacious sea-view balcony. The average room rate per night is R5000.
With the completion of The Capital Pearls, The Capital builds on a property legacy that’s been two decades in the making. Now part of one of the country’s most sought-after estates, The Capital is in the midst of Umhlanga’s lifestyle precinct.
