Experience the powerful and moving theatrical work The Last Country—a deeply immersive production that brings to life the real stories of migrant women navigating the complexities of leaving home and building new lives in a South African city.
Running at The Market Theatre from 15 May to 1 June 2025, this timely play invites audiences to step into the journeys of Ofrah (from the DRC), MaThwala (from KwaZulu-Natal), Aamiina (from Somalia), and Aneni (from Zimbabwe).
Woven together with compassion and nuance, the script captures both the hardship and hope that come with displacement, reminding us of our shared humanity and the quiet power of kindness. Rooted in 30 oral histories of migrant women—gathered as part of the Migration, Gender and the Inclusive City research project led by Dr. Kira Erwin—the play draws on real experiences from across Africa, including South African women who have moved from rural to urban spaces.
The Last Country tickets are available via Webtickets, with half-price tickets on Wednesdays.

Tucked within the exclusive Korhaan River Estate, where fewer than 30 families share in the quiet luxury of open skies, river breeze and uninterrupted privacy, this remarkable property brings country living to life with elegance, intention, and a touch of soul.
Set along the gentle Leeuspruit River — just a short flow from the mighty Vaal — the estate unfolds across 70,500m² of manicured grounds, three shimmering dams, and sweeping lawns made for unhurried afternoons. It’s the kind of setting where mornings begin with birdsong and evenings settle beneath a canopy of stars — whether as a permanent sanctuary or a sophisticated weekend retreat from city rush.

This festive season calls for clinking glasses, bold flavours, and a touch of indulgence. From tropical twists with premium rums to reimagined classics that showcase South Africa’s heritage spirits, our cocktail line-up is designed to inspire your celebration.

For Mrs South Africa 2025 finalist Talitha Oosthuizen, the pageant is more than a crown—it’s a calling. With courage rooted in her faith and a voice devoted to those who cannot speak for themselves, she’s using her platform to bring light to South Africa’s darkest crisis: human trafficking.
