This December, the Sonwa Sakuba Institute for the Performing Arts (SSIPA) brings its Cape Town debut to Theatre Arts in Observatory with Disney’s Moana JR.
Based on the beloved Disney film and performed by an all-kids cast aged 6 to 18, Moana JR is a vibrant, family-friendly musical that celebrates courage, identity, and the spirit of adventure.
Directed and choreographed by Sonwa Sakuba, the show reflects his signature blend of African storytelling, contemporary movement, and musical theatre performance. Sakuba is the founder of SSIPA, a celebrated training institution whose productions have earned acclaim at the National Arts Festival.
This production marks a significant milestone as SSIPA expands its programmes to Cape Town and Johannesburg. The Cape Town staging also launches SSIPA’s local Kids & Teens Programme, aimed at nurturing the next generation of young performers.
Moana JR tickets are available online here.

Tucked within the exclusive Korhaan River Estate, where fewer than 30 families share in the quiet luxury of open skies, river breeze and uninterrupted privacy, this remarkable property brings country living to life with elegance, intention, and a touch of soul.
Set along the gentle Leeuspruit River — just a short flow from the mighty Vaal — the estate unfolds across 70,500m² of manicured grounds, three shimmering dams, and sweeping lawns made for unhurried afternoons. It’s the kind of setting where mornings begin with birdsong and evenings settle beneath a canopy of stars — whether as a permanent sanctuary or a sophisticated weekend retreat from city rush.
