Her art exhibition

Get ready to celebrate all things art this Women’s Month. We cannot wait to visit the Sanlam Art Collection, presenting Her. In essence, this is an exhibition of painting, sculpture and printing. It’s a celebration of women artists and their active role in the development of visual art in South Africa.

The exhibition takes place in Jozi at the Sanlam Art Lounge from 1 to 22 August, and in Cape Town at the Sanlam Art Gallery from 4 August to 22 October.

What to expect from the Her exhibition

The Her exhibition features work from 58 amazing South African artists from the early twentieth century. It includes a variety of unique styles. Additionally, the exhibition tells the story of the female experience through meaningful and innovative works that illustrate the issues pertinent to women over the last century. From domestic life and motherhood, to discrimination, inequality, gender, beauty standards and violence against women.

The aim is to bring a stronger focus to the contributions by female artists to the art industry, and the powerful influence and legacy of women in art. 

You can visit the exhibition on weekdays between 09:00 – 16:30 at both galleries. 

The Sanlam Art Gallery in Bellville, Cape Town is open to the public, while viewing at the Sanlam Art Lounge in Johannesburg (6th floor at 11 Alice Land, Sandton) is by appointment only.
