Amazing munch spots in KwaZulu-Natal
From Upper Highway to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, when it comes to food and drink, there is much to explore in Durban and beyond.
The Barn Owl
Keen on some coffee and delicious freshly baked goods with a view? The Barn Owl – with its unique architectural features and minimalist fitout – brings simplicity and serenity together in one spectacular space. Here, you can plonk down on a couch as the kids run out to play and while you indulge in a flat white – beautifully plated on a wooden tray – the Curry’s Post farm’s horses might just come and say hi. They also have additional coffee shop locations in Florida Road and Mitchell Park.
Bona Terra Café
Open seven days a week, the Upper Highway Bona Terra Café boasts wholesome breakfasts and lunches including salads, wraps, nachos, freshly baked cakes and scones and the perfect cup of coffee. In addition to a wide variety of menu items, they also have a lovely kiddies’ play area, complete with a doll house, jungle gym and a huge sandpit. Dogs are also welcome at this beautiful farm-to-table-type café with lots of outdoor space.
The Treatery, Howick
Located at Howick’s popular Yard 41, The Treatery is a Midlands must. While their breakfasts are to die for and their couches are perfect for a morning read, they also have a lovely dinner menu with some brilliant options for a date night, special occasions or even family meals. Tip: Their homemade pastas are always special and their Pork Belly is known to be very popular. And, for those who need to get some emails out, they do have WiFi.
