Bitter Winter, on stage from February 20th until March 16th, is a tribute to the legendary figures of South African theatre and the fresh wave of rising stars shaping its future.

Playing the Sheriff in Six Guns at Sesriem isn’t exactly the dream role for a classically-trained actor in his mid-70s—but Jean-Louis Lourens needs this job desperately.

As he nervously awaits the arrival of an American film director at a tense casting call, he crosses paths with Prosper Mangane, an up-and-coming star of television and film. Prosper’s youthful energy and adventurous spirit force the once-celebrated thespian to see their tough, fascinating craft in a whole new light.
