Garden Town Stellenbosch, one of South Africa’s most anticipated garden and lifestyle events, will captivate visitors from 25 October to 3 November 2024.
This ten-day festival promises a rich blend of horticultural beauty, cultural experiences, and community spirit, all reflecting the renowned hospitality of Stellenbosch.
A new highlight for 2024 is Garden Town Classics, an open-air concert set against the historic Stellenbosch Town Hall. This addition promises to enhance the festival experience with both visual and musical delights.
Festival Highlights:
- Private Gardens: Visitors can explore exclusive private gardens that showcase individual creativity and design.
- Public Gardens: Offering a variety of plant collections and sustainable gardening practices, these public spaces are designed to inspire gardeners of all levels.
- Workshops, Talks, and Tours: Led by industry experts, these educational sessions cover topics like sustainable gardening and landscape design.
- Flower Parade (29 October): This vibrant parade celebrates local harvests and creativity, bringing the community together in a colorful display.
- Neelsie Film Festival: A selection of garden and nature-themed films will offer a cinematic celebration of the beauty of horticulture.
- Middedorp Activations: Stellenbosch’s town centre will bloom with floral installations, pop-up gardens, and interactive displays.
- Wrap-up Ride (3 November): The festival will conclude with a cycling event, showcasing the region’s natural beauty.
Garden Town Classics
Taking place on 2 November 2024, Garden Town Classics will be an open-air concert featuring the Stellenbosch City Orchestra, conducted by Dr Paul Loeb van Zuilenburg, and will include performances by local classical talents such as Janel Speelman (soprano), Lynelle Kenned (soprano), Louis Loock (tenor), and Niël Rademan (baritone). The programme will include beloved melodies from classical music, opera, and musical theatre, with nature-inspired compositions in focus. Seating is available for 600 attendees.
