Women are taking center stage in the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra’s World Symphony Spring Season. The events take place over three consecutive Thursdays—October 31, November 7, and November 14—at Durban’s Playhouse Opera Theatre.
Each concert will spotlight a female soloist, with one concert also featuring a woman conductor.
The season boasts a carefully curated selection of vibrant pieces, showcasing works by Beethoven, Haydn, Chopin, Borodin, Bruch, Dvořák, Rossini, Sibelius, and Tchaikovsky.
The opening concert on October 31 will feature Brazilian-born conductor Marcelo Lehninger, who will lead a program that includes Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, Op. 62, Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 in D Major, and others. This concerto will be performed by the talented 22-year-old British pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason.
