Matilda Jr,  a multi-award-winning show based on the beloved Roald Dahl book, comes to life at the People’s Theatre!

Matilda tells the story of a brilliant young girl with telekinetic powers who faces an unhappy life with her parents. The show follows her journey as she tries to transform her world. Her parents see her as a nuisance, while she believes they’re only interested in watching TV. Life at school isn’t much better, thanks to the intimidating headmistress, Miss Trunchbull.

Terrifying both students and teachers, Miss Trunchbull’s reign of terror is challenged when Matilda discovers she has a very special power. Determined to teach the grown-ups a lesson, she begins to stand up for herself. The musical also explores the touching relationship between Matilda and her kind-hearted teacher, Miss Honey, and highlights Matilda’s quest for freedom and self-empowerment.
