Oprah’s spiritual guru, Eckhart Tolle is coming to SA
Oprah Winfrey says Eckhart Tolle is a prophet for our time. In fact, she describes him as one of the most inspiring and visionary spiritual teachers and self-help authors in the last 25 years. South African fans can rejoice, as Tolle is set to embark on a two-stop speaking tour in the country, including Cape Town and Pretoria, come February 2024.
Internationally acclaimed as “The most popular spiritual author in the United States” by The New York Times and “The most spiritually influential person in the world” by Watkins Review, Tolle gained widespread recognition after Oprah featured his first book, The Power of Now, in O Magazine in 2000. Five years later, A New Earth – chosen for Oprah’s Book Club – became one of the most transformative books she ever read. Both books have become international bestsellers, translated into 52 languages, spreading Tolle’s philosophy of living in the present to millions worldwide. The collaboration continued with the Essential Teachings podcast, topping charts to reach a broader audience.
Despite being 25 years old, Tolle’s influence remains ingrained in popular culture. His teachings are woven into US rapper Kendrick Lamar’s 2022 album, Mr Morale & the Big Steppers, featuring narration by Tolle himself.
Tolle, a key speaker at the Dalai Lama’s Peace Summit and a speaker alongside best-selling author Deepak Chopra, faced severe depression at 29. His life-changing epiphany led him to see his situation and life from a new perspective. He says: “The awakening of human consciousness is no longer a luxury – it is a necessity for the survival of our species. It is up to each of us as individuals to embody the state of aware presence and thus rise above the egoic mind and its dysfunction. When a sufficient number of humans undergo this transformation, this will bring healing and sanity to our planet.”
Having travelled the world to teach about spiritual awakening and consciousness transformation, ‘An Evening with Eckhart Tolle’ is scheduled for the GrandWest Arena in Cape Town on 4 February 2024, as well as the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria on 8 February 2024.
Tickets are available through Ticketpro.
