Playtopia, Africa’s premier Indie Games and Immersive Arts Festival & Summit, is back this December 2025, bringing together over a thousand festivalgoers for a celebration of gaming, creativity, and interactive play.
This year’s fantasy-themed Arcadia, designed by Natasha Davidson (AfrikaBurn, Bazique), transforms the festival into a magical library filled with portholes, spell books, potions, and glowing crystals — an immersive world where imagination runs wild.
Festival highlights include the premiere of TeamLazerbeam’s Shroom and Gloom (in collaboration with Devolver Digital) with a giant Shroom tunnel, the Super Friendship Arcade with custom controllers, and the Indie Planet Exhibition featuring standout games from global festivals like BCN Games Fest, Freeplay, Bitsummit, and A.Maze.
For the first time, The Art Massive, a collective of local and returning PLAYTOPIA artists, will curate immersive art installations, bringing collaborative energy and bold creativity to the festival floor. End the festival with the official after party at Tommy’s Chop Shop, hosted by Discotekah.
Tickets for the festival and after party available via Airdosh.
