The V&A Waterfront’s Makers Landing is excited to bring you the very first South African Whisky Show in celebration of World Whisky Day on Saturday, 20 May 2023 at Makers Landing.

This unique South African Whisky Show promises to immerse and showcase the emerging excellence and talent in the South African Whisky industry.

Visitors can look forward to tastings, cocktail masterclasses, food, and live entertainment throughout the day.

Be sure not to miss panel discussions by some of South Africa’s best and most respected whisky brands such as Bains, Three Ships, Pienaar & Son, Boplaas and Drayman’s.

The guest speaker of the day is Andy Watts, who was inducted into Whisky Magazine’s Whisky Hall of Fame in 2021. Watts will also be hosting an exclusive tasting of unique and rare releases from Bains and Three Ships.

Andre Pienaar, Master Distiller and owner of Pienaar &Son at Makers Landing says, “South Africa has some amazing whisky brands so why not showcase the emerging talent of the whisky industry on such as a fitting day. Each brand of whisky brings out their own personal touch and visitors to the South African Whisky Show will have the opportunity to taste the personal variations and enjoy being immersed in learning about the process.”

Guests can also enjoy cocktail masterclasses hosted by brand ambassador, Jody Francis from Fitch & Leedes.

The event includes the launch of South Africa’s first NFT (Non-fungible tokens) whisky, by Nouns Whisky. These NFT’s are special tokens and represent the collectable bottles. There will only be 500 bottles available to purchase, which will be recorded on the virtual blockchain.

Tickets to this show and masterclasses can be bought via Quicket

J’Something: The Man Who Built a House and Called It MiCasa

He doesn’t enter a room with the swagger of a chart-topping artist. He doesn’t lead with numbers, awards, or brag-worthy milestones. Instead, he talks about love. About purpose. About light. As if these are the true measures of a life well-lived. For J’Something — born João da Fonseca — music was never about stardom. It was about connection, community, and belonging, and ultimately, about building a home people could step into, a home called MiCasa.
