Splash and Leap! is an expressionistic contemporary ballet dance piece inspired by the artwork of Ashvin Harrison.

Throughout the performance, a video projection showcases paint splattering onto a canvas, displayed on the cyclorama. The dancers mirror the shapes and lines created by the paint, bringing the artwork to life on stage.

As the paint finishes splattering, the projected image zooms out to reveal a complete picture of a ballerina in mid-leap (Firebird), with the vibrant splatters forming her colourful tutu. The colour palette includes merlot red, burgundy, bright red, and gold shimmer, drawing inspiration from Harrison’s piece, Glamorous Gala Dance.

As the dancers continue to echo the patterns of the paint, they culminate their movements in a formation that reflects the colourful tutu, completing the artwork in a stunning visual finale.
