JAN Franschhoek Season III Bookings Now Open
La Motte Wine Estate is renowned for its authentic Cape Winelands hospitality, rich French Huguenot heritage and exceptional culinary offerings. That’s why it’s the perfect destination in the Franschhoek Valley for one of South Africa’s most coveted food and wine experiences: JAN Franschhoek. And, they’ve just announced the launch of JAN Franschhoek Season III!
Where nostalgia and global culinary trends collide
The 18-seater table in the charming 18th-century Veepos cottage – nestled among lavender fields with an age-old oak at its centre and the picturesque Franschhoek Valley mountains as a backdrop – has become almost legendary. But, the true magic of JAN Franschhoek lies in Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen’s unique ability to blend the nostalgia of a South African family table with global culinary trends and innovations. Ultimately, this combination offers guests a culinary journey that is both familiar and adventurous – one not to be missed.
What to expect of JAN Season III
“We are more conscious than ever of preservation – not just with ingredients, but also with places, experiences and the people who continue to support us,” says Jan Hendrik. He is excited to be working on a new menu in collaboration with Head Chef Lara van Heerden, who has just spent three months with him in France. “Season III will showcase not only international fine dining, but also hearty local cuisine,” he adds.
The menus proudly highlight local ingredients while allowing room for exotic flavours. In addition, they reinterpret family traditions and regional favourites through seasonal themes inspired by the lavender fields. And, Jan Hendrik’s exceptional international gastronomic expertise and beautifully paired food and wine add to the brilliance of this extraordinary experience. Season III promises to captivate with new additions to its winning formula, inviting guests to indulge in sensory reminiscence while creating new memories through the flavours and textures of this remarkable food and wine experience.
“As a family, we treasure our heritage, but we also embrace renewal and energy,” says La Motte CEO, Hein Koegelenberg. According to him, the third season of JAN Franschhoek kicks off an extensive new offering at La Motte, set to be rolled out towards the end of the year. La Motte is inspired by the gifts of the earth and how they are transformed by talents like Jan Hendrik. “It’s a wonderful way to share our passion for quality and authenticity!”
