About the Car that is Turning Heads

Originally built in Singapore and now touring South Africa, this striking replica celebrates the craftsmanship of both LEGO Technic design and Mercedes-AMG performance engineering. Measuring 5.1 metres long and 2.2 metres wide, and weighing over 900 kilograms, the life-size model transforms the iconic Formula 1 car into a sculptural work of art. Every panel, curve and aerodynamic detail has been faithfully recreated, mirroring the sleek presence of the real W14 while capturing the playful spirit of LEGO innovation.

“This build represents our passion for creativity and our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with LEGO bricks,” says Valery Kasimov, country manager for LEGO South Africa.

Mercedes-Benz South Africa’s Claudius Steinhoff adds that the project embodies shared values of “precision, performance and excellence,” bringing two global design icons together in one unforgettable creation.

A National Tour for All LEGO and Motorsport Fans

Now, the life-size LEGO Mercedes-AMG F1 car is taking its place in the fast lane. It is also embarking on a nationwide tour that gives South Africans the chance to experience this engineering marvel up close.

The tour will feature interactive stations where fans can unleash their creativity and put their racing skills to the test, including:

  • Build Stations: design and assemble your own LEGO race cars
  • Championship Racing: high-speed ramp racing with precision timing and a digital leaderboard
  • Reflex Challenges: reaction-testing stations inspired by real driver reflex drills

Where to See the Life-Size LEGO F1 Car

The journey begins in Johannesburg and continues across the country over the next few months:

  • Nelson Mandela Square, Johannesburg – 16 November to 3 December
  • Gateway Shopping Centre, Durban – 12 December to 5 January
  • V&A Waterfront, Cape Town – 15 to 25 January
  • Sandton City, Johannesburg – 5 to 28 February

At each stop, visitors can explore the build, snap photos with the full-scale F1 car, and enjoy hands-on LEGO experiences designed for builders of all ages.

As LEGO South Africa continues to celebrate design, innovation and play, this touring build bridges the gap between motorsport performance and imaginative construction—proving that when creativity takes the wheel, the possibilities are limitless.
