Luke Dale Roberts’ Pot Luck Club launches in Joburg with menu of global tapas

Pot Luck Club Joburg Luke Dale Roberts

Luke Dale Roberts and his talented crew of chefs have just unveiled The Pot Luck Club Joburg, a permanent home for the popular restaurant that has been a success in Cape Town since its opening in 2012. The Joburg venue will be located in Rosebank’s Oxford Parks development, where The Test Kitchen Carbon used to be. The Pot Luck Club offers a different experience from the highly curated fine dining of TTK Carbon, with a more lively urban energy that fits Joburg’s vibrant dining scene. It serves tapas-style dishes that draw inspiration from global flavors, reinvented with Pot Luck’s signature style and flavor. The menu includes more than 20 individual plates, and the restaurant aims to let guests experiment and create their own dining experience by setting the pace, the price, and the choice of dishes.

What's on the menu

The Pot Luck Club Joburg has an all-star team, with Group Executive Chef Jason Kosmas leading the menu and Gray Tawanda, the longest-serving manager of the Cape Town restaurant, returning to the group as the manager of the Johannesburg branch. The menu will be familiar to Pot Luck fans, starting with a bread course and Family Favourites, a selection of Pot Luck’s greatest hits. The menu also includes some favorites given a unique twist for Joburg, such as the beef tataki served with fresh spring onion dressing and roast garlic aioli, and the line fish that swims in saffron cream, with tamarind dressing and basil mint salad. The menu’s highlight is the Mexican-inspired pork belly, served with a soft shell taco, ancho chili dressing, and beautiful pineapple salsa.

The Pot Luck Club Joburg has a dedicated Cold Bar, serving oysters with Vietnamese-style nuac cham dressing and line fish ceviche dressed with the kick of a classic ‘tiger’s milk’. The restaurant also has a carefully curated list of wines from boutique South African cellars and signature Pot Luck daiquiris, martinis, and sake-based cocktails. The venue has an edgy urban elegance that is a perfect fit for Joburg’s dining scene.

The Pot Luck Club Joburg is officially open for lunch from 12:30 to 14:00 and dinner from 18:00 to 21:00 from Monday to Saturday.
