Pretoria’s premier entertainment hub, Time Square is preparing to welcome a brand-new dining destination. Luminary on 12th is a fine-dining restaurant that will be opening its doors to the public on 22 December 2023. Ultimately, this will be the go-to destination for discerning palates in the new year.
On the 15th floor, Solis Bar will offer a welcoming sundowner experience with canapés. Of course, this is complemented by breathtaking Pretoria views as the city lights start twinkling under the setting sun. Then, the culinary adventure will continue on the 12th floor. Time Square’s Executive Chef, Adrian Vaughan and his team’s meticulously crafted a five-course “contemporary international” meals, thoughtfully paired with exquisite wines, are bound to make your tastebuds fly.
“Whether you’re indulging in a romantic dinner for two or hosting a private event, our restaurant offers an exclusive and refined atmosphere that brings a touch of glamour to any occasion,” says Chef Vaughan.
The ‘bookings only’ Luminary on 12th boasts an ever-evolving menu. Currently, it features culinary delights like freshly baked brioche with parfait and jam, a fish course showcasing monkfish and mussels in coconut, a main course that highlights a signature dish of aged beef with coffee and parsnip, a cheese course, and a decadent cherry, chocolate and mascarpone dessert. In essence, the restaurant promises a sophisticated experience.
Adrian Vaughan brings a wealth of British culinary expertise to Pretoria. His culinary journey began in 2012 when he joined Sun International as Executive Sous Chef for The Maslow Sandton’s opening team. His culinary competence continued to shine when he assumed the role of Complex Executive Sous Chef at Time Square’s inauguration in 2017. A year later, he earned the title of Complex Executive Chef.
Over the past five years, Chef Vaughan dedicated himself to refining the restaurant’s culinary portfolio through unique Chef’s table experiences at Time Square’s main kitchen. Reflecting on this journey, he says: “It is my ultimate goal to gain recognition as a chef, and what better place to start than with this fantastic platform to create fine dining dishes on a regular basis for our patrons.”
Time Square General Manager, Ruben Gooranah describes the cuisine as “absolutely delectable.” He hopes that guests would relish every moment of the new experience at Luminary on 12th.
