Immerse yourself in island hospitality because Mauritius is about to reopen!

If there is one destination we could travel to right now it would have to be Mauritius. It is just spectacular, value for money, the flight is just 4 hours and the food, the culture, the people, it’s all exceptional.

So the good news is Mauritius will open its doors to international travel on July 15th, but does that include South Africans?

Well the island will be opening in phases during 2021 and the first phase, from 15 July to 30 September 2021, will enable vaccinated travellers to enjoy a resort holiday on the island.

Holidaymakers will be able to enjoy facilities within their chosen resort premises, including the swimming pool and beach. If guests stay for more than 14 days and have negative PCR tests during their stay in the resort, they will be able to explore the island’s attractions thereafter. However, for shorter stays, they may leave the resort earlier to travel back home.

Travellers to Mauritius aged 18 years or over must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, so that leaves most of us South Africans behind. Also if we want to go we can but if we are not vaccinated we have to quarantine in an official quarantine hotel for 14 days.

So we’re holding thumbs to be vaccinated asap so we can hit the beach with a pina colada in hand!
