One playground you have to take your kids to this month

Dining at The Playground

Calling all Joburg parents and kids

If you have been living under a rock then we can excuse you for not knowing about the brand new playground. Aptly called The Playground, this is soon to be your favourite neighbourhood market, located in Braamfontein and perfect for the little ones.

Yes, we are aware that there is an eternal quest for Joburg-based families to find something different to do over the weekends. But, today that all changes, thanks to The Playground. Why? Because they’ve put together an exciting kids’ programme that will keep youngsters busy and parents at ease.

Every Saturday for the month of September, a fun-filled makers session – guided by Visual Art students from the University of Johannesburg – will show kids how to reuse the flotsam and jetsam of our world to create something beautiful and useful.

After each 90-minute session, children will have an upcycled object to take home, made almost entirely from natural materials like seeds and clay or from discarded paper, and plastic. While they’re being creative, parents can indulge in a blissful hour and a half, enjoying the deliciousness of The Playground market.

How does it work?

Tickets can be bought on Quicket for R150 per child per session, which includes materials as well as a drink and snack.

The Saturday maker sessions will take place on the following dates:

3 September (Buy tickets here)

10 September (Buy tickets here)

17 September (Buy tickets here)

24 September (Buy tickets here

Two sessions each Saturday will accommodate different age groups:

10AM to 11:30AM: 6-9 years olds

12PM to 13:30PM: 9-12 years olds
