Reinventing Van Life in the Citroën SpaceTourer
Many people are switching to camper vans, reaping the benefits of being free to travel when and where you want. Camper vans are practical, can go almost anywhere, they are less than 2m high (which means it can fit into car parks), and they can be used day-to-day, all year round. It’s the perfect solution. In fact, camper vans now account for around 90 000 new vehicles in Europe annually – more than half of all leisure vehicle sales.
Hosted between 25 August and 3 September 2023, the Düsseldorf Caravan Show was packed with surprises, especially where Citroën is concerned. The company showcased its Type Holidays van at the event – a teaser concept that combines the iconic Citroën Type H with the more modern SpaceTourer.
Citroën has always found inspiration in the freedom of sharing and the freedom of movement. The brand has the know-how when it comes to developing practical, ingenious, affordable models that go hand-in-hand with terms like ‘escape’ and ‘leisure’. With van life becoming a popular way of travel – especially under younger generations – the unrestricted way of travelling has brought about the vehicle company’s commitment to the Type Holidays offering.
Citroën’s Type Holidays offers all the advantages of the Citroën SpaceTourer: Space, comfort, quiet operation, two sliding side doors, an independently opening tailgate window and more. The van with its retro exterior was kitted out by one of the world’s leading specialists, Bravia Mobil. It comes with a pop-up roof that allows you to stand upright in the living space, which switches to a bedroom in night mode, complete with a double bed. There is also a two-row bench seat which transforms into a comfortable two-person bed. Furthermore, the front seats can swivel towards the living area and there is a complete kitchenette with a cooking area, sink and fridge. The Citroën Type Holidays teaser also includes a folding table for dining (or working if you’re a nomad), as well as cupboards for storing. And, a Webasto heating system ensures optimum temperature control on the road.
The Type Holidays serves as the start of a comprehensive Holidays range, which should be available across the Citroën network soon.
