Savour the Sea: First-Ever Coastal Seafood Flavours Festival on KZN South Coast

If there’s one time of year when the KZN South Coast truly comes into its own, it’s winter. Odd, we know, but think sun-drenched days, sparkling Blue Flag beaches, and the wild spectacle of the annual Sardine Run. This year, there’s even more reason to pack your bags and head to the coast, with the launch of the Coastal Seafood Flavours Festival. This promises to be a celebration of ocean-fresh cuisine, local culture, and outdoor fun taking place at St Michael’s Beach on Saturday, 26 July 2025.
A Coastal Celebration of Flavour and Heritage
This first-of-its-kind festival is more than just a feast. It is a tribute to the region’s fishing roots and culinary artistry. Hosted by the South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE) in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), the festival aims to spotlight the area’s rich marine culture while supporting local seafood tourism.
“We’re thrilled to launch this festival, which combines the best of our coastal offerings — flavour, adventure, and heritage,” said Dr Vusumuzi Sibiya, CEO of SCTIE. “It’s a family-friendly celebration of what makes the KZN South Coast such a unique destination.”
