Spier Light Art returns for an electrifying 6th edition
Spier wine farm has earned itself many accolades over the years. It is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, having been established in 1692 and was the winner of the Green Awards and Ethical Awards in 2022. It also landed in our Top 5 child-friendly South African wine farms recently.
Additionally, Spier’s love for art manifests through its reputation for having one of the largest contemporary art collections in the country. And, returning for its sixth iteration, Spier Light Art upholds this reputation with a one-of-a-kind art exhibition.
Spier Light Art is an evening exhibition that features 21 different light and video artworks across the farm. Spier’s mission to make art accessible for as many people as possible results in Spier Light Art being free for anyone to enter. It’s less about the money and more about the artists and their creations.
Exhibitions featured in Spier Light Art 2024 address contemporary issues like climate change, the impact of technology, gender identity, racism and colonialism, as well as our understanding of life. And, all of these issues are tackled in brilliant technicolour.
It’s as entertaining as it’s engaging; a unique art experience best enjoyed in comfortable walking shoes. With the event running until the 1st of April, we’d advise arriving before sunset so you can indulge in a delicious feast of food and obviously, their award-winning wine.
