Gliding up the escalators at Mall of Africa, the dazzling lights and booming beats of the Swarovski store come into sight. The space is donned in a blue glow with our eyes being drawn to an impressive crystal swan in the shopfront.
Octagonal shapes decorate the perimeter of the store in the brand’s key colours – blue, green, yellow and pink. Each shape houses an array of sparkling crystals elevating earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Home décor pieces are also scattered around the store with accessories like sunglasses thrown into the mix too.
As we try on crystal pieces we would never conjure up in our dreams, we feel our blood fizzing up under its touch. Even the cocktails are sparkling, matching the wonderfulness of the Wonderlux store.
The Wonder of Swarovski Wonderlux
Mall of Africa welcomed the first Swarovski Wonderlux Store in South Africa in October 2024, following a three-week redesign. Ultimately, the transformation aims to enhance shoppers’ retail experience at Swarovski stores worldwide. Having entered the consumer space in 1895, Daniel Swarovski’s mastery of crystal-cutting has been taking the world by force ever since.
Focused mainly on women’s jewellery, each product embodies 125 years of creativity and craftsmanship. Innovative cuts, shapes and sizes are used in experiments at Swarovski on a daily basis, but this is taken to a new height when it comes to Swarovski Wonderlux. In fact, this store embodies the refinement of crystals as much-needed and must-have accessories.
The store celebrates Swarovski’s initial vision of creating “a diamond for everyone.” Whether the crystal is carefully resting on your chest, around your wrist or a finger, or dangling from your dress, there is something for everyone.
In addition, the 1980s saw the first crystal figurine enter Swarovski stores’ shelves, essentially becoming a collectible item. The Swarovski Wonderlux store houses some of the most impressive pieces in this category, proving that nothing is impossible at Swarovski.
