Thanda Manzi: The Ideal City Escape

Thanda Manzi - The City Escape

When the daily life just gets a little bit too much, there is one place you can quickly sneak away to…

Sleep, unwind, eat, meet and celebrate at Thanda Manzi, a lodge close enough to Pretoria and Johannesburg for a quick brunch or getaway, but far enough to forget all about the hustle and bustle. From nature walks to dinner next to the Hennops River, it is perfect for a quick getaway.

Location, location, location

Thanda Manzi is nestled amidst the beautiful Magaliesberg Mountain range, next to the Hennops River. The signs en route read ‘Sleep, Unwind, Eat, Meet and Celebrate’ and that’s exactly what you will experience when you stay at this riverside haven. The serene views will easily make you forget about your stressful and busy lifestyle. And, on top of that, it’s only a mere 30 minute drive from Centurion and less than an hour’s drive from Joburg and Pretoria. Evidently, it’s the perfect place to break away to for a night or two. Or three!

Stay, Eat and Unwind at Thanda Manzi

Eat, stay, unwind at Thanda Manzi

We can highly recommend a mid-week stay if you’re keen on re-energising your mind, body and soul. On arrival, we quickly checked in, eager to go on a nature walk. The hike is only 2km and it is suitable for both kids and pets. The natural surroundings had us awestruck as we watched the sun set behind the mountains.

After the hike, we headed straight for dinner. There are three restaurants on the premises. The Terrace and Lapa Restaurant are both located next to the tranquil river. And, while we were keen on dinner under the riverside fairy lights, the cold weather lured us inside for a romantic dinner at the River View Restaurant. In addition to these cosy fireplaces on wine farms, Thanda Manzi’s cosy highveld fireplaces are also worth adding to your bucket list this winter. Of course, trying the cuisine at their restaurants should most definitely also be on your list!

Good Morning, Joburg

It can get quite cold next to the water, but the friendliness of the staff and the picturesque surroundings are enough to keep you warm. The next morning kicked off with a cappuccino on the patio, followed by a divine breakfast at the Mountain View Deli.

Add Thanda Manzi to your Bucket List

Yes, the proximity of Thanda Manzi makes it the ideal place to meet clients, visit the spa, stay over or have dinner. But, what makes it even better is the fact that you feel welcome and relaxed from the moment you arrive.

It’s safe and it often reminds you of the Cape Winelands. Plus, did we mention that they are pet-friendly?

It truly is the perfect escape from city life.
