Pigalle
Founded in 2004 by renowned restaurateur, Naldo Goncalves, Pigalle is a restaurant that is synonymous with elegance, sophistication and excellent seafood. While there is a Bedfordview branch, as well as a Cape Town branch, we’re very fond of Pigalle is in Sandton, located in the iconic Michelangelo Towers. The menu includes a small selection of meat options, but seafood is really the name of the game at Piagelle, where all dishes are prepared with their signature Portuguese flair. Come for the fish and stay for the whole experience, as they stock some of the best local and international wines and French-style champagnes too.

The Fishmonger
Located in Illovo’s Thrupps Centre, The Fishmonger was the first of the national Fishmonger restaurant franchise. Perhaps, in comparison to the other restaurants on our list, Fishmonger doesn’t quite match up in terms of sophistication or elegance. However, their reputation as one of Joburg’s top seafood eateries is well-founded and places them comfortably among any of the other restaurants. With a range of seafood grills, shellfish options and an extensive sushi menu, what they do with fish is pure Mediterranean magic.
