You might never come back down to earth after staying at The Old Mushroom Farm, situated at No. 11 Karkloof in Howick. Let me take you on a journey of discovery that we just recently experienced for three nights and loved every minute, especially watching sunsetting over hills while cattle steal the last bit of warmth for the day.

This unique farm stay offers such an inventive style of  accommodation, not only has the space been reconfigured to live in, its also super comfortable. It’s a mushroom cabin which used to house mushrooms and now houses people. Surrounded by nature and the Kwa Zulu-Natal Midlands mountains, you can say goodbye to your city woes.Sink into your king size bed and fall asleep to the whistling hoots of the owls.

The apartment layout is distinctive and yet not out of place in the surrounding environment. The owners have considered every need and created a space that is not only child friendly but pet friendly too. The living space is fully self-catering, sleeps 4 guests, hosts 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, WIFI, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge oh and a fire place and your very own veggie patch on your private patio. They’ve created a place of happiness.

This retreat is isolated and completely Coronavirus compliant but not too extreme which we prefer, as your neighbours are nestled adjacent inside the mushroom tunnel which has been split up into small local businesses.
