We recently popped in at ARC’s store at Mall of Africa to experience the Jo Loves Fragrance Tapas menu and wow! If you’re looking for something to celebrate National Sense of Smell Day on 29 April with, this is it.
Apparently, Jo Malone has always had an impeccable sense of smell. Ultimately, that lead her to become a leader in the world of fragrance. You can only imagine the immense sense of loss when she lost her sense of smell due to the treatment she had to undergo for cancer.
This is but one of the stories you will hear when booking the Jo Loves Fragrance Tapas experience at ARC. The beauty store takes you on a journey of the senses with Jo Malone’s life story at its core. While you are taken through a fragrant journey of the various Jo Loves products, you also get to learn more about its remarkable founder. It includes stories that inspired many (or most) of the fragrances, like the island where she regained her sense of smell, or the flower shop which she worked in as a young girl. Or, a very special garden which not many people get to see, and clouds of butterflies instantly inspiring a certain scent. The Jo Loves fragrances are fresh and often linked to nature. They come with unusual fragrance combinations that linger – stirring emotions, shaking the senses and finally settling beautifully on your skin.
ARC has a dedicated Jo Loves bar where they offer the Jo Loves by Jo Malone CBE fragrance experience. From perfumes that will leave you nostalgic about places you’ve never even been to, to bath colognes, cleansers and lotions that will amuse your senses. To keep things interesting, they warm up the bath cologne within a tagine, releasing a cloud of scented steam. They shake the cleanser over ice – like a cocktail – and then strain it into a glass to show off its foaming ability. Finally, they whip and foam the Jo Loves lotion, before gently painting it onto your skin with a soft paintbrush.
In addition to this experience, ARC Studio also has a range of other options to choose from. Get one-on-one time with their makeup experts with either a 30-minute Flash Session (R400) or a 60-minute Full Face Session (R800). With these sessions, you can learn some valuable makeup tricks and techniques, as well as get a quick refresh or makeover.
The Jo Loves Fragrance Tapas – categorised as an ARC Brand Experience – normally costs R500. Both the Flash Sessions and the Jo Loves Fragrance Tapas are offered for free until the end of April as part of ARC Studio’s launch.
