Wild Cards: Universal TV Hosts Private Screening of New Series
Universal TV recently hosted an exclusive private screening event at African Pride Hotel in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. We also slipped into our red dresses and slapped on some red lips – adhering to the themed dress code – to attend the preview of the new comedy-drama series, Wild Cards. Truthfully, this ten-part series – set to premiere on Universal TV on 3 September 2024 – will undoubtedly keep viewers across Africa entertained!
What is Wild Cards About?
Wild Cards stars the handsome Giacomo Gianniotti, who plays a demoted detective, Cole Ellis, and Vanessa Morgan (from Riverdale) as the scammer, Max Mitchell. Together, they must solve a crime that could help Ellis regain his detective status and keep Max out of jail. Of course, the dynamic between these two characters guarantees a thrilling blend of comedy and drama – something you wouldn’t want to miss. And, perhaps even some romance… Who knows? Well-known actress, presenter, author and entrepreneur, Leandie du Randt played host at the event and agrees that there is definitely a spark. With her having way more experience in the industry than we do, who are we to disagree?
A Preview to Remember
Themed around the show’s playful and intriguing vibe, the Melrose Arch event featured creative brand activations, immersive experiences and numerous photo opportunities inspired by Wild Cards. In addition, the red dress code certainly added a touch of glam. The screening kicked off with promo reels and trailers for Wild Cards, noting that Universal TV’s September programming slate is absolutely worth staying home for. Then, a delightful brunch was served, seeing us participate in problem-solving and detective-themed games. There were also some exciting prizes, sponsored by Universal TV and DStv Rewards.
Where and What to Watch When
Wild Cards is a key highlight in Universal TV’s September multi-show programming lineup, which also features new seasons of popular shows like NCIS: Sydney (Season 1), Chicago Med (Season 7) and S.W.A.T. (Season 6). Fans can also look forward to continuing series such as Tribal (Season 2), Chicago P.D. (Season 10), S.W.A.T. (Season 5), and Magnum P.I. (Season 3).
