CLOSED: WIN tickets and be Drumstruck

Dolly Parton Drumstruck

Drumstruck, a 5-star African drum-theatre production captivated both local and international audiences at Silvermist Wine Estate last summer. Now, it’s back with a new season launching on 10 November. The show will run every weekend from 10 November to 30 November. Then, from 1 December until April 2024 the show will run twice daily from Wednesday to Sunday. Bound to captivate, the production – which initially had its humble beginnings in Joburg in 2002 – will once again be coupled with a wine tasting. The wines will be presented by Silvermist owner and winemaker, Gregory Brink Louw.

Be dumbstruck over Dumbstruck

“I’m dumbstruck over Drumstruck,” was Dolly Parton’s reaction following Drumstruck’s recent partnership with the country singer’s theme park in Nashville. They’ve also toured to the far East, Europe, Australia and off-Broadway New York. Warren Lieberman, Drumstruck producer says he brought the production back to South African soil to give locals and tourists access to the transformative and unifying magic of drumming together. At the same time, you’ll also learn something about traditional African music. “We have created a show that has emerged from many years of experience and feedback from audiences of all ages and cultures,” he says. “It blends traditional African instruments, song and dance into an infectious musical event, and people walk out of the show feeling elated and connected.”

The production’s home and partner, Silvermist Organic Wine Estate atop Constantia Nek is an easy 15-minute drive from Cape Town. While drumming and wine is not a common pairing, they work harmoniously in this beautiful space, making for a unique experience for anyone – young and old. During the experience, adults can taste and learn about a range of exclusive South African wines from the area, while children (and those who prefer) can relish in a farm-brewed selection of iced teas. Silvermist also offers ample space for kids to run around and play, with a lovely farmyard environment.

The Drumstruck experience has been extended to also include a braai after the show (to be pre-ordered with the ticket purchase) and guests will be entertained by a world-class marimba band while they indulge in delicious cuisine and beautiful views. The Wilvermist Rocketbar has also been reopened – a lovely African-inspired wine and coffee bar that serves sandwiches and snacks throughout the day.
