Spice Route Chakalaka
A wine that speaks true to South Africa, Spice Route Chakalaka is all about the art of blending our beautiful country’s cultural diversity. It is Spice Route’s Rhône-style red blend and it is synonymous with the success of the pioneering winery, which initiated the renaissance of the Swartland wine region. From the Zulu language, Chakalaka relays a sense of togetherness, which in essence is exactly what wine does – it brings people together. This wine – like the relish commonly served with pap – is the perfect companion for Heritage Day.
Deetlefs Stonecross Pinotage Rosé
Located in the beautiful Breedekloof, Deetlefs Wine Estate is the second oldest wine estate in South Africa under ownership of the same family. It was established in 1833 and celebrated 200 years of exitance in 2022. Its Stonecross Pinotage Rosé 2022 was rewarded Gold by the Gilbert & Gaillard International Wine Awards 2022, as well as by the Rosé Wine and Spirits Challenge 2022. Needless to say, this wine is what you’d want by your side this spring. Apart from its beautiful, subtle rose gold colour, it also comes with alluring aromas of strawberries, sweet cherries, nectarines and candy floss on the nose. On the palate, you can expect a strawberry sorbet entry and a surprisingly salivating salty finish.
Louisvale Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Louisvale’s esteemed Five Barrels Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 was awarded a highly coveted gold medal at the Trophy Wine Show, sponsored by Investec, that took place earlier this year. The wine captured the attention of the judges, earning a score of 97/100. It also placed in the Top 10 Reds 2023 category due to its exceptional character, multi-layers and aromas.
Tokara Director’s Reserve
The flagship white wine of Tokara, the Tokara Director’s Reserve, recently struck London Gold at the 20th Decanter World Wine Awards. The current 2020 vintage scored 95/100 at the influential global competition, which saw a record number of 18 250 wines from 57 countries entered this year. The Tokara Director’s Reserve White 2020 is a classic Bordeaux-style blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, from vines on the highest slopes of the Simonsberg.
