Ukungalingani Kwezemfundo – A Solo Exhibition By Nosiviwe Matikinca
Nosiviwe Matikinca will debut her first solo exhibition titled Ukungalingani Kwezemfundo (Educational Inequality) at the Pretoria Art Museum.
The exhibition will run alongside the Sasol New Signatures 2024 exhibition from September until November 2024.
Her award-winning piece sheds light on the struggles faced by underprivileged learners in public schools. The piece emphasises the disparities in access to basic necessities such as school shoes. For her solo exhibition, she revisits her use of fragile clay castings of school shoes, expanding their symbolic weight.
Matikinca’s exhibition will coincide with the Sasol New Signatures 2024 exhibition. The exhibition will showcase 139 selected works from artists across the country, representing the diversity and vibrancy of contemporary South African art.
