Brotox: The Beauty Secrets of Corporate Men

Have you heard of Brotox? It’s Botox for the bros! Yes, this age-old aesthetic trend is now blurring gender lines and we just had to find out more.
What is Brotox?
Without getting too science-specific, botulinum toxin treatments is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved neurotoxin. It works by freezing muscle tissue in the targeted injection sites. Evidently, this results in relaxed wrinkles, improved facial contours and prevention of fine lines deepening.
Botox is a minimally invasive and often quick and simple procedure. Results can be seen one to five days after the initial injections and last between four to six months. It is, therefore, not a permanent change, but a temporary aid to combat the not-so-aesthetic effects of ageing.
Because men have thicker and more robust muscle tissue, they sometimes require more units of Botox than women. So, while procedures for men have more masculine results targeted towards their areas of concern, Brotox might be a little more expensive.
This once taboo and misunderstood topic has now become a well-known beauty trend globally. The fact that it is no longer just women jumping on the idea of looking and feeling younger is a major stride for the aesthetics industry.
Why Do Bros want Brotox?
Men in their 30s and 40s are still youthful at heart even if their faces don’t show it. This is one of the main reasons for men to dive into the world of Brotox. Looking younger allows men to succeed in their social lives – the dating scene being a major aspect. In addition, by looking more youthful and approachable, men with Brotox claim to have seen increased success in their professional lives.
If done correctly, Brotox is natural and often not obvious. Brotox-praising are the ones who want to say goodbye to creased brows, frown lines, crow’s feet, drooping brows and sagging mouth lines. And, with the masculine results come an improved self-esteem, of course. Celebrities like Joe Jonas, whom have opened up about their Brotox journeys, also influence men to take the leap and try the trend.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (APS) says that Brotox has increased by 400% since 2000. In 2020 alone, over 265 000 men had Botox procedures. Interestingly, there was also a surge in Brotox treatments after the premiere of the film, Barbie, with younger men wanting to be “kenough.”
Sculpting and defining one’s face is another reason for bros to consider Brotox. This has also sparked a movement of men’s skin care. Yup, say goodbye to the 5-in-1 shower gel!
Where To Get Brotox
Anywhere that women go for their beauty treatments is also a perfect place for men. The aesthetics industry has opened their doors to men of all ages and intentions. Places like Skin Renewal and Dermology have treatment facilities all over South Africa, offering Brotox treatments and procedures to physically healthy men older than 18.
With a focus on minimising facial lines in a masculine way, Brotox is the best kept secret of corporate men.
