Destination Dubai
TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards recently named Dubai the Most Popular Destination in the World for a second time. In fact, its impressive skyscrapers, beautiful beaches and exciting attractions make it one of the most sought-after tourist destinations globally.
The awards are based on ratings of places to visit, stay at and do while travelling. Hence, being ranked as the top destination in the world means that Dubai received excellent traveller reviews throughout all of its tourism offerings. Other destinations listed in the awards include Bali, London, Rome, Paris, Cancun, Crete, Marrakech, the Dominican Republic and Istanbul.
According to Sarah Firshein, Head of Editorial at TripAdvisor, travellers are seeking out new adventures this year, and the Travellers’ Choice 2023 Destinations list reflects the very best places chosen by the TripAdvisor community.
What makes Dubai so special as a destination?
With Dubai’s previous win, the Director of Media, Destination and Travel at TripAdvisor, Justin Reid described the destination as an ultramodern city that has it all. “Despite the effects of the pandemic, Dubai still attracted visitors from near and far over the past year and has stood out as their favourite place to go in a year when they really needed some excitement.”
In essence, tourism is a central pillar of Dubai’s economic growth and diversification. With more than 13 000 restaurants and cafés spread across the city, the destination offers a diverse range of cuisines for foodies and families alike. It’s won global recognition as a gastronomy hub, with the launch of the MICHELIN Guide Dubai and the arrival of renowned fine-dining restaurant critique guide Gault & Millau in 2022. In addition, various of the destination’s restaurants, chefs and gourmet experiences were also recognised in the inaugural edition of the Middle East & North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2022.
