La Petite Ferme: Chef’s Table

Indulge your inner gastronome this winter and snap up a seat (or two) at the exclusive Wine & Food Experience presented by La Petite Ferme.

This mountainside estate in Franschhoek, the culinary capital of South Africa, offers luxurious accommodation and unparalleled vistas. It also produces world-class hand-crafted wines from its own small and intimate boutique style cellar, managed by winemaker Wikus Pretorius. And, La Petite Ferme is home to an award-winning restaurant, which serves country cuisine with a fresh contemporary touch. Attend La Petite Ferme’s Chef’s Table and Themed Food and Wine Pairing evenings and savour sublime dishes with local and international wines throughout the year and be prepared to be dazzled!

The Chef’s Table takes place from May to September, while the Themed Evenings will be from April to September, every last Friday of the month. Furthermore, there will also be two ‘Wine-Makers’ Tasting Dinners, taking place on the last Thursday of May and June.

The Chef’s Table (May to September)

This includes a five-course dinner with wine pairing at R1 450 per head. This is an extraordinary dining experience where the food and wine pairings, carefully curated by our head chef and winemaker to find the perfect balance of pairings, give you a flawless combination. It is available for groups of six to ten guests, from Wednesdays to Saturdays, dinner only. Seating is between 18h15 and 18h30 and is only available when booking in advance.

The Themed Evenings (the last Friday of April, July, August and September)

This includes a five-course dinner with wine pairing  at R1 450 per head.
The dinners are inspired by a flavour where the chefs choose an ingredient which will be used across all five courses, served and paired with an estate wine.

Themed evening 1: Cinnamon – Friday 21 April
Themed evening 2: Citrus – Friday 28 July
Themed evening 3: Mushroom – Friday 25 August
Themed evening 4: Chocolate – Friday 29 September

Winemakers’ Tasting Dinners (on the last Thursday of May and June)

Distinctly different from the other Themed Evening dinners, these dinners will be hosted by La Petite Ferme’s talented winemaker, Wikus Pretorius and will cost R1 450 per person. Pretorius draws on his experience of local and international wines. Prior to joining La Petite Ferme in 2015, he worked for some of South Africa’s top wineries and estates in the premier wine regions of France, California and Australia.

Winemakers Tasting Dinner 1 – Thursday 25 May

Viognier takes centre stage. Traditional to France’s northern Rhône valley, the cultivar is known for its delicate acidity, dryness and varied expressions, while the dinner is dedicated to what many consider the ‘king of reds’, Cabernet Sauvignon. Famous as a full-bodied wine, it is nonetheless capable of delicacy and elegance in skilled hands.

Winemakers Tasting Dinner 2 – Thursday 29 June

It’s Chardonnay’s turn. A bold grape that continues to surprise and delight in all its different guises.

Pretorius will begin each evening with a showcase tasting of four wines – one from La Petite Ferme, two from other local Cape winelands terroirs and one international. All the wines on the evening will be the same cultivar, providing a rare opportunity to compare different expressions and the effect of terroirs and techniques. The tastings will be followed by a three -course food-and-wine spectacular, with dishes inspired by Pretorius’ most sumptuous taste experiences which he gleaned from his world travels.

“These exquisite dishes are not on our restaurant’s à la carte lunch menu and will be paired with wines from La Petite Ferme’s renowned portfolio. Our wine-paired dinners will provide enthusiasts of our beloved restaurant the chance to return to their favourite, month after month…each time to experience a different sensory indulgence,” he explains.

Reservations are limited to ensure an intimate, personal and premium experience. Bookings are essential and early reservations recommended.
