Orlando Pirates - Yours in hospitality
Marriott International has just announced the launch of a ground-breaking room addition to its portfolio. It’s true, they now officially have an Orlando Pirates F.C. themed hotel room and bookings are now open.
Local interior designer, Latoyah Mei has worked with Protea Fire & Ice! by Marriott Johannesburg Melrose Arch to bring football fanatics an immersive experience. In fact, the room captures the essence of the team’s legacy and success over the years. It echoes the legendary black and white stripes of the club, which is complemented by black metal accents. In addition, the ambiance is enhanced by warm woods, ambient lighting and contemporary monochromatic prints that add a touch of lux.
Furthermore, the room also transports one back in time and ignites a sense of pride. It holds a captivating mural of legendary players, as well as carefully curated football memorabilia. You’ll also be impressed with the innovative way in which stadium lighting is integrated into the flooring of the room. Plus, the Vilakazi street tower signage has been repurposed as a functional bag and coat holder. It’s authentic and charming, to say the least.
In essence, Mei wanted to create a contemporary and minimalist space, harmoniously blending natural elements to enhance the aesthetic appeal. “The Orlando Pirates-themed rooms offer and immersive and unforgettable experience that we believe our members and fans will treasure,” says Sean Maher, Market Vice President, South Africa, Marriott International. Apparently, there are also plans for additional themed rooms across the country. In fact, some are already underway. This promises even more exceptional hotel experiences!
Orlando Pirates Club’s media director, Thandi Merafe says: “Orlando Pirates is an iconic brand, not only in South Africa but also across the African continent and beyond. The Skull & Crossbones were a symbol of hope during the apartheid era, and Orlando Pirates continues to inspire hope for all our people.”
