A day out eating is the perfect family adventure, especially if you choose the right setting. For those of us that have little ones, when you know, you know.
We know how hard it can be to find a kid friendly restaurant that also offers good food. So here is our short list of the top 3 places that are perfect for thrilling the little-stars and have fantastic for the parentals.
1.The Green Room at Pirates East
Spend hours at this ideal location with an indoor and outdoor play area. But our main reason to visit this space is not because of the splendid sandpit or wondrous swings but because of the food: humble, delicious, affordable and generously portioned oh and also outstanding service, very rare findings for a family friendly restaurant. They also have an excellent kids menu and bake daily goodies oh and we must mention that their coffee is great too!
#HelloRecommends hosting your little ones birthday here, it’s guaranteed to be a success!
2. The Field Berry Farm in Walkerville
Say hello to the South of Joburg. You’ll love it here, one of the coolest outdoor designed spaces we have in the city, oh and the raspberry and strawberry pick-your-own fields are divine! No need to book, just get outdoors and pick. And if the burst of adventure doesn’t go to plan (does it ever with kids?) then they also have delicious berry goodies for sale, frozen and fresh. From cheesecake to jam, go wild!
We love that you can park on a hay bail all day long with many fresh foodie stalls to choose from and awesome jungle gyms and bike tracks too.
3. Munch Café in Bryanston
Go for the Brioche French Toast with homemade berry compote and a dollop of mascarpone cheese and stay for the play area.
So we love the fact you can eat indoors or outdoors, weather dependant but even more so we love that the youngsters can frolic freely through the nursery and not only explore and play but also learn about flora and fauna. Side note: say goodbye to closed-toed shoes.
There are tables outside right next to the vast adventure playgrounds and yes mom, of course you can plant shop too!
