Jozi is on fire right now with the recovery rate at 94.5%! Wear your masks, sanitise, be safe but hey if youre gonna spend the day out on the town, we’ve tried and tested the best things to do in the city. Here are our top 4 choices.
Enjoy!
1. Grab a slice of toast at MorningGlory Cafe
This isn’t just your ordinary style sourdough toast, oh hell no. This is a sexy slice, jam packed with heavenly goodness, smothered with creamy peanut butter, a berry compote, chai seeds and nut brittle. It’s called the PB + J and it’s simply delicious and at just R49 a pop we say order a double!
Where: 146 Jan Smuts Avenue, Parkwood
#HelloRecommends: This is the latest brunch hot spot and we can understand why, its so darn cute and cool and is just the trendiest space for a little brunch date right now. Oh and they also serve great coffee (Bean There) and a hot cross bun ice cream sandwich. Need we say more?
2. Take a walk on the wild side
They have plenty hiking events and guided walks. We love this option because it’s free and its incredibly beautiful. Plus we love the idea of schlepping along a picnic because it is Covid safe with lots of outdoor space and loads of fresh air.
Where: The Wilds Wildlife Sanctuary, Houghton Drive
#HelloRecommends: You can take your own picnic and your pooch along. Plus we love all the sounds of flowing water, yip that’s right there are waterfalls, ponds and many singing frogs.
3. Explore the great areas of the city in art
Its important for some intelectual stimulation and plus we love supporting local artists. This Art Room is wonderful as the gallery features group shows of art on paper by contemporary South African artists.
Where: The Art Room, Corner 4th Ave and 7th Street, Parkhurst, Santos Centre
#HelloRecommends: It’s on 4th Avenue Parkhurst which means after The Grey Area Exhibition (on now until June 26th) you can grab a glass of vino and do some last minute shopping. Win-win!
4.Give your senses a treat and listen to some live music
We miss the days of good food, good music and good ol’ company. So now, completely covid compliant is the Saturday and Sunday music sessions at Xavier Maboneng.
Where: Xavier Maboneng, 303 Fox Street, Maboneng Precinct
#HelloRecommends: adding color to your week ahead with some of the most glorious cocktails and vibrant energy of live local bands.
