Domestic Terror – Intimate partner violence in South Africa
November will see sixteen days of activism for no violence against women and children again this year. The United Nations campaign takes place annually on 25 November and on 10 December, we celebrate International Human Rights Day. In light of these important events, this important and well-researched book comes highly recommended. It serves to create awareness, with a true, unsanitised story of how devastating gender-based violence is in the lives of victims, dead and alive. Written by Dr Nechama Brodie – a journalist, author and academic – the book explores decades of brutal domestic violence and coercive control and it examines women’s changing rights and current legal protections.
