What to expect from the series
Elephants are some of the most interesting animals. In fact, they are powerful, loving and wise. Through research, we are continuously unlocking more and more of their deepest secrets. Evidently, the ground-breaking, award-winning natural history franchise, Secrets Of, returns this Earth Day with its next instalment: Secrets of the Elephants. The series will premiere on Disney+ as well as across Africa on National Geographic Wild (DStv 182, StarSAt 221).
Elephants have long been a source of wonder and mystery. Their rich emotional lives and almost supernatural ways of navigating the world is always intriguing, which is why this series promises to capture viewers from the start. In Secrets of the Elephants, viewers will join the producers of the series, travelling the globe to meet desert elephants, forest elephants, Asian elephants and African savannah elephants. In essence, each elephant family has its own specific set of cultural behaviours and an incredible story of intelligence, grace and survival to tell.
The elephant series travels the world – from the Savannah of Africa to the urban landscapes of Asia. Ultimately, it’s all about discovering the strategic thinking, complex emotions and sophisticated language of elephants. These are things that shape a unique and dynamic culture.
Secrets of the Elephants features renowned National Geographic Explorer and elephant expert, Dr Paula Kahumbu. Furthermore, it consists of four parts, revealing the extraordinary lives of different elephant families. It also highlights how similar they are to humans. In the end, the series is likely to change everything you thought you knew about elephants.
The four-episode series will land on Disney+ on Earth Day, and there will be a special back-to-back broadcast of it on National Geographic Wild from 18:45 to 22:00 (CAT).
