South Africa’s most iconic beach resort destination will keep you and your kids entertained

Capital Zimbali slide with kid

Majestic sea views. An abundance of delicious, fresh food. Friendly, welcoming staff. Large rooms and suites. Dedicated kids play areas. These are the basic offerings one would expect at a coastal resort destination. Well, let us tell you that The Capital Zimbali delivers all the above, and then some.

We recently visited one of South Africa’s most iconic beachside resorts for a three-day escape from the madness of Joburg and boy did we have a fantastic time.

The Capital Zimbali is located just north of Durban and about 15 minutes from King Shaka International Airport, making it an ideal holiday destination for anyone looking for a quick rest and reboot! Situated within the greater Zimbali Coastal Estate, which includes a world-class golf course, tennis, squash and a fitness centre as well as kilometers of running and cycling tracks. Not to mention a pristine and private beach. Once you enter the main gates, you’ll immediately be overwhelmed by a feeling of stillness and serenity.

With multiple restaurants onsite and a halaal-certified kitchen (we counted six, including Valley of The Pools which is located on the beachfront, within the Zimbali Coastal Estate) and four exclusive-use swimming pools, each day is an adventure of discovery and exploration.

Family-friendly holiday destination

The resort is one of the most family-friendly destinations we’ve visited. There are family suites each with its own comforts and perks like a kitchenette, and king-size beds that can be separated into twins if needed. There is also a small kitchenette and the option of a roll-away bed and sleeper couches that sleep children up to 12 years of age. Plus, kids under 12 stay and eat breakfast for free. WINNING!

With dedicated children’s play zones and kids clubs, shallow pools with child-minders, and not one but two water slides, your kids will keep occupied and stay safe at the same time. And for those adults wanting a little peace and quiet, The Capital Zimbali has an adult-only swimming pool and Mangwanani Signature Spa with covered cabanas and pool-side service. Mealtimes are also very much geared towards multiple tastes and if you’re hankering for something a little different then the restaurant staff will bend over backward to make your every desire come true.

The Capital Zimbali has gone a long way to understanding the needs of its guests and has therefore tailored exceptional value offers for those Durbanites looking for a quick weekend break or travellers coming from farther afield. Check out their current specials here.

Zimbali Inverroche Gin Academy

Business conferences and events are now back in full swing and if you’re looking for a unique experience to captivate and inspire your team then The Zimbali Inverroche Gin Academy is definitely worth some investigation. For only R1,000 per person, your delegates will experience a world of flavour sights, smells and tastes.

The Capital Zimbali is not only a place to unwind and relax but most importantly it’s a place to reconnect with your family, friends and work colleagues. Once you’ve arrived, you’ll never want to leave.
